With the aim of promoting awareness, sharing and dissemination of an unrivalled historical legacy, the Municipality of the City of Ivrea organizes a series of free-guided tours in the buildings and places that transformed the industrial culture of Olivetti into a unique and worldwide admired reality.
For five Sundays, from October to December, it will be possible to embark on a journey of exploration and discovery of the site, built in the years comprised between 1930 and 1960, and made up of the works associated to the industrial and socio-cultural project of Adriano Olivetti.
The area consists of a group of buildings designed by the most famous Italian architects and urban planners of the twentieth century.
Areas and industrial building are clearly visible, as well as residential buildings and other ones intended for social services. This area is mainly identifiable along the axis of Corso Jervis, home to the buildings for production, social services intended for the factory and the city of Ivrea and for the residences, that are to be considered among the most important examples of the ingenious policy enacted by Olivetti.
The meeting point for visits will be the Red Brick Factory, located in Via Jervis, 9, the perfect point of departure for a journey in the heart of this UNESCO heritage.
Every Sunday, there is the possibility to choose between two different hours of visit; at 10:00 a.m. and at 3:00 pm. Booking is required, and it can be done at the Tourist Office of Ivrea (Piazza Ottinetti, 10015, Ivrea. Telephone 0125 618131. E-mail: info.ivrea@turismotorino.org)
The Tourist Office is also available for information (reservations, dates and costs) related to guided tours for other days of the week.
Our advice is to complete the tour with a visit to the historical center of the City and to the Civic Museum for Alessandro Garda of Ivrea, whose new outfitting work invites to admire three important collections – the archeological, the oriental and the Croff ones- comprising magnificent masterpieces and unique art pieces.
The museum will be open on Sunday November the 4th and Sunday, December the 2nd, between 3:00 and 7:00 p.m.
Full admission for 5 Euros, reduced price 4 Euros. Free entrance for Piedmont Museums Subscriptions card holders.
