The second meeting of the Olivettiane Lectures “Matera and Adriano Olivetti: from” shame of Italy” to “European Capital of Culture 2019”, with Pippo Ciorra, is dedicated to the city of Matera, “symbolic capital of the peasant world”, in which Adriano Olivetti arrives in 1950, animating an interdisciplinary laboratory where designers, social workers, engineers and philosophers studied the Sassi to build places that would restore dignity and citizenship to the people.
The result of the Olivetti experience in Matera is nowadays recognized as the backdrop to the recent renaissance of the city, from “national shame” to “European Capital of Culture” in 2019
