Within the exhibition of historical photographs by John Phillips, at the “P. A. Garda “di Ivrea until March 4, 2018, the Olivetti Historical Archive Association and the Museo Civico Eporediese have organized a historical study on the great, fervent season of the Olivetti cultural activities, focusing on the graphic design of the art catalogues and, in particular, the exhibition catalo that, since 1986, Olivetti has dedicated to John Phillips, a great photographer and photojournalist of the last century.
It was a large traveling exhibition throughout Italy (Milan, Bologna, Venice, Mantova Bolzano, Spilimbergo, and Ivrea) of more than150 photographs taken in various parts of the world between 1936 and 1982. It concluded with an exhibition in Belgrade in 1989.
The in-depth conference will be held by Professor Roberto Pieracini, graphic artist and designer, who gained his experience working for Olivetti, first in the 1960s in Ettore Sottsass’s studio, and then, from 1982, as Head of the Olivetti Editorial Chart Service in the Corporate Image Department, directed by Renzo Zorzi, who was responsible for all of the Olivetti cultural activities.
The conference is open to the public and takes place in Ivrea, in the main hall of the Officine H training centre from 10.30 to 12.30, February 2, 2018
