Cantieri Olivetti for the history of the twentieth century Archives, photography, territory.
March 1, 2018
4.30pm – 7.00pm
Location: Sala Santa Marta, Ivrea
The conference provides an opportunity to deepen some aspects of the relationship between photography, industry and territory, and, thanks to some direct witnesses, to reconstruct the intense and fruitful relationships that have been created between the great photographers and Olivetti. The initiative, which is a result of the collaboration between the Olivetti Historical Archive Association and “P. A. Garda “, made possible by the contribution of the Guelpa Foundation, will be at the end of the exhibition of historical photographs by photojournalist John Phillips.
The title of the conference refers us to an historical heritage, rich in its variety and breadth of themes and fields of exploration that have been investigated through the medium of photography of great authors, whose original photographs are kept by the Olivetti Historical Archive Association.
The conference offers an opportunity for analysis and reflection through the photographic documentation of some great photographers of the twentieth century. It is an opportunity, on the one hand, to build a network of various skills through which we can interrogate and interpret the documents, to examine them and make them known to the public through exhibitions, discussions and educational insights, and on the other, to support the UNESCO application process of Ivrea “An Industrial City of the XX Century”, through an integrated and public action plan.
